Stephane Bancel, CEO of Moderna, which develops a vaccine against coronavirus, announced the date when the pandemic can end.
Stephane Bancel, CEO of the US pharmaceutical company and mRNA-based corona virus vaccine developer Moderna, made a statement about the future of the corona virus.
Speaking to Swiss newspaper Neue Zürcher Zeitung, Bancel said that the corona virus pandemic could end in a year, as global supply is provided as a result of increased vaccine production.
SUFFICIENT VACCINE DOSE MUST BE PROVIDED BY INCREASING PRODUCTION CAPACITY
“If you look at the expansion of industry-wide production capacities over the last six months, there should be enough doses available by the middle of next year to get everyone in the world vaccinated,” Bancel said. “Third doses should be available as needed.”
The CEO of Moderna added that soon vaccines will be available even for babies.
‘WE WILL FACE A FLU-LIKE SITUATION’
“Because the delta variant is very contagious, those who are not vaccinated will naturally be vaccinated. This way, we will face a flu-like situation,” said Bancel. .
Asked if this meant a return to normalcy in the second half of next year, he said: “As of today, within a year, I guess.”
